I call on leadership of Azerbaijan to accept comprehensive peace treaty: Marina Kaljurand
ForeignMarina Kaljurand, head of the delegation of the European Parliament for relations with the South Caucasus, gave a speech at the session dedicated to Armenia-EU relations.
“Prime Minister of Armenia Pashinyan has clearly said that Armenia is on the side of Europe and is ready for close cooperation with the EU. This is due to not only the economic situation, but also to the country’s commitment to European values and the difficult security situation. I welcome the EU mission in Armenia and the republic's involvement in the peace plan. I believe that now is the right time to start a dialogue on visa liberalization and support Armenia's wider inclusion in communication and other regional programs.
At the same time, Armenia has a lot of work to do. It is highly dependent on Russia, the Russian army is deployed there.
And finally, after 30 years of suffering, the people of Armenia and Azerbaijan deserve to live peacefully and safely. I call on the leadership of Azerbaijan to accept the comprehensive peace treaty, which provides for the recognition of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-use of force," said the Estonian deputy.
