Crossroads of Peace initiative by Armenia is ‘very reasonable’ project, France Senator says
PublicationsFrench Senator Gilbert-Luc Devinaz has lauded the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project as a “very reasonable” project that proves the country’s readiness for dialogue with other nations, Armenpress reports.
Devinaz is the head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group in the French Senate.
Speaking to Armenpress, he described the interparliamentary ties between the two countries as “excellent.” “France has numerously voted in favor of various resolutions in support of Armenia, to help Armenia go towards democracy, which is currently one of the main pillars of Armenia,” the French senator said.
He highlighted Armenian-French cooperation, particularly in the defense sector. “It is very important that our countries have cooperation, especially in the military sector. This is a very important pillar in the relations of Armenia and France.”
Asked on his stance regarding the ongoing peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the French senator said, “First of all, France supports and respects Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Armenia is a small country located at a crossroads, therefore it is very important for the wars to end in South Caucasus, because Armenia can be a very good connecting link in the region.”
In this context Devinaz praised the Crossroads of Peace project developed by the Armenian government. “We assess that project positively, because implementing such a project was a very reasonable decision. This project shows Armenia’s readiness for dialogue with other countries,” the French senator said.
