Biden, Harris welcome freed Americans at Andrews Air Force Base
BlogosphereUS President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris met the Americans released from Russian prisons late last night, reports VOA.
The plane carrying Alsu Kurmasheva, Evan Gershkovich, and Paul Whelan from Turkey arrived at Joint Base Andrews of the US Air Force.
Biden called this prisoner swap "a feat of diplomacy, friendship" and thanked Washington's allies for their "bold and brave decisions."
"Today is a powerful example of why it's vital to have friends in this world," Biden said at the White House, surrounded by relatives of freed prisoners.
Also, Biden expressed special gratitude to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who made a politically difficult decision to have Vadim Krasikov released.
