Lexus LBX gets sports modification
BlogosphereToyota Motor has started offering the new modification of the Lexus LBX subcompact crossover in the Japanese domestic market; it is indicated in the name with the prefix Morizo RR, reports Drom.ru.
Morizo is the pseudonym of Akio Toyoda, chairman of the board of this Japanese concern. This is the "call sign" that the Toyota top manager uses when participating in car races. The LBX Morizo RR was first unveiled in January at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The Sport version differs from the standard version of this subcompact crossover with its turbocharged 1.6-liter 3-cylinder G16E-GTS gasoline engine; the same one used in the Toyota GR Yaris. Engine power: 300 hp, torque: 400 Nm. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Regardless of the type of transmission, the Lexus LBX Morizo RR accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The new product is available only with all-wheel drive. The curb weight of the car is 1,440 kg in the version with a manual transmission, and 1,470 kg in the version with an automatic transmission.
The suspension elements of the LBX Morizo RR are original, but its front and rear tracks are wider than the standard version. Designers had to introduce other linings on the arches. Otherwise, the wheels, due to their protrusion in relation to the body, would scatter dirt on the side windows. The total width of this car is 1,840 mm; that is, compared to the standard crossover, it has increased by 15 mm. Lexus sports crossover wheel size is 235/45 R19.
Due to the low clearance, the overall height is reduced by 15 mm to 1,535 mm. But the length remains the same: 4,190 mm.
The stamped lower arms of the front suspension are made with the new REDS (React-Enhancing Damping Structure) technology, the corners of which are coated with a special composition of heat-resistant polymers. This supposedly further dampens vibrations and improves steering clarity. And the original front bumper and radiator grille are aerodynamically optimized.
