Ararat Mirzoyan receives congressional delegation led by Senator Roger Wicker
WorldToday, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received a delegation from the U.S. Congress led by US Senator Roger Wicker. This was reported by the Armenian Foreign Ministry, noting that the interlocutors discussed issues related to the agenda of the Armenia-US political dialogue, as well as regional developments.
"Recently, we have developed an active dialogue with the US at various levels, and it is very important that about a month ago we made a joint decision to raise the level of our cooperation to a strategic partnership," emphasised Mirzoyan
Ararat Mirzoyan added that the development of Armenia-US cooperation is also aimed at strengthening the sustainability of Armenia, which is highly appreciated by the Armenian side.
The meeting highlighted the progress of democratic reforms in the Republic of Armenia and the significant progress achieved, as well as the current challenges facing democratic development in the context of current geopolitical events.
Regional security issues were also discussed. Mirzoyan presented the vision of Armenia for establishing stability and long-term peace in the South Caucasus, including the regulation of relations with neighbors. In the context of ongoing processes with Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan especially noted the importance of ensuring the continuity of the demarcation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration and signing a peace agreement through negotiations.
The issues of unblocking regional communication routes, as well as humanitarian issues, were also discussed.
Mirzoyan and US parliamentarians exchanged views on Armenia's foreign policy and other issues of mutual interest.
