Russia launches attack on Kyiv: DW

Ukraine's military said its air defense systems were repelling the airstrikes launched by Russia overnight into Wednesday.

 

Several blasts were heard in and around Kyiv, DW reports, with air raid alerts in place throughout Ukraine.

 

Meanwhile, the United States has approved the deployment of another Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine, according to media reports.

 

According to the head of the department, Sergey Popko, the air alert in Kyiv lasted for about two hours. He clarified that all air targets were destroyed by air defense forces. As a result of falling debris, a fire broke out at an industrial enterprise in Kyiv, one person was injured.

 

In addition, an air attack alert was announced twice in Ukraine last night and in the morning. The scale of possible destruction is being determined.

 

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used 30 drones and missiles during a mass attack on Ukraine, 29 of them, including 'Kinzhal', were hit.
