The Wall Street Journal: US delays sending precision weapons to Israel
PoliticalWashington has delayed the sale of precision-guided weapons to Israel, sources say, reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
It is about the sale of about 6,500 JDAM guidance kits, which can convert conventional aircraft munitions into guided ones.
The US Congress was notified of the proposed $260 million deal in January, but lawmakers never received an official notification to that effect.
Since then, the Biden administration has not taken the necessary measures to implement the sale.
This is unusual, especially with Israel, especially in a time of war, a congressional source told WSJ, but without specifying the reasons why the sale is being delayed.
Also, the process of telling Congress about the possibility of selling $1 billion in arms to Israel, including tank ammunition, military equipment and mortars, has been suspended since March.
