Baku described resolution of European Parliament related to human rights in Azerbaijan as 'one-sided and groundless'
WorldThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan described the resolution adopted by the European Parliament yesterday as unilateral and groundless, which calls for the termination of Azerbaijan-EU energy cooperation and the refusal to sign any new agreement until Baku releases political prisoners and improves the situation in the field of human rights.
The advisory resolution also called for sanctions against those officials of Azerbaijan who committed human rights violations.
Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizada, stated that the resolution is nothing but a political order of a number of European powers, the purpose of which is to worsen relations with Azerbaijan and divert attention from acute socio-economic and political problems in Europe.
"Once again, we call on the European Parliament not to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs and judicial processes," Hajizada added.
