Newspaper: Armenia ruling political team also afraid of prospect of return of Azerbaijani ‘refugees’
BlogosphereHraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in part: Yesterday's actions of peaceful disobedience in various provinces of Armenia have caused dual moods in the ruling team. According to some reports, in private discussions some of the [ruling majority] CC [(Civil Contract) parliamentary faction] MPs have spoken about the need for measures to ensure the safety of ruling [team] representatives, stressing that the breath of the post-war days is felt, one should be prepared for possible attacks and surprises [by Azerbaijan].
However, many [others] were not concerned about these [protest] actions, they are sure that it is unlikely that the struggle will gain momentum. They broke the backbone of the people in such a way that 2018 is unlikely to be repeated. By the way, the ruling team is especially afraid of the approaching day when the issue of [Azerbaijani] refugees' return will be on the agenda.
They think that at that time, no manipulation from their side will work, and in no way can they give people "baits" that this is their land, we give [it]. If they now announce that they are not handing over a millimeter from the RA border, what they are giving to Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani, then not a single "trickery" will pass during the return of the Azerbaijani "refugees." Even the ruling team predicts that when [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev sends representatives of special services, with their families, to Armenia under the name of refugees, "everything" will begin then.
Let's remind that Aliyev announces about 250 thousand [Azerbaijani] refugees who once lived in Armenia. But now they have increased and multiplied, and their descendants can also come to Armenia. But the right of return of 500 thousand Armenians [once] living in Azerbaijan, 120 thousand Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] Armenians is not supported by anyone, not pushed forward, at least as a counterbalance.
