EU experts and Armenian authorities discuss developing an anti-corruption strategy for Armenia On 7 December 2012, the EU Advisory Group hosted a round table dedicated to the
development of the framework of anti-corruption actions in Armenia. State
officials, representatives of civil society and international organisations debated
the options for developing future strategies and sought a consensus on how
Armenia could proceed over the next months and years.
During the round table, participants discussed the best practices related to the analysis of
the causes of corruption, strategy formulat ion and measures to strengthen the anti-
corruption framework. They focused on the EU perspective on anti-corruption framework and
civil society participation in the strategy formation.
The EU expert presented an outline of a future policy paper on a review of the current
framework in Armenia, identifying best practice s in developing an anti-corruption strategy.
The policy paper sets out the issues which surround the development of anti-corruption
strategies and looks at the international best practice concerning the design of anti-
corruption strategies. Moreover, it will consider the importance of the wider political context
during the development of a strategy. The paper will be presented during a public event in 2013.
The round table speakers were Ambassador Traian Hristea, Head of the EU Delegation,
Patrice Coeur-Bizot, UNDP Resident Representative ad interim, Georgi Kutoyan from
Presidential Administration, representatives from Transparency International, Ethics
