Georgians protesting a decision to appoint a new governor for the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region have organized a symbolic funerals for President Mikheil Saakashili in Zugdidi. The Russian "Vzglyad" reports that the crowd toured the city, carrying a coffin with Saakashvili’s scarecrow image.
The newly appointed governor of the Georgian region is the former police official, Tengiz Gunava.
