Tbilisi minibus drivers on strike for fifth day
Georgia
Tbilisi minibus drivers have been on strike for the fifth day and are due to protest again near the City Hall today.
At 14.30pm more than 3000 drivers will demand their conditions are met. A meeting between representatives of the leading group of strikers and Georgian minibuses ended without a result and the strike continues.
The drivers have voiced a number of demands: to abolish the individual self-employed status, reduce the daily work plan and to restore the work of groundlessly dismissed colleagues by the company's management.
Drivers have also demanded to use the services which they will choose themselves, to repair the cars. The next round of talks between the drivers, trade unions, the city hall and the transport company will be held at 16.00.
