Resignation claim was presented to me. Today is Levon Ter-Petrosyan's resignation day (video)
Political
Exactly 15 years ago today, on February 3, 1998, Levon Ter-Petrosyan presented his resignation.
Lurer.com offers you a text of the statement on the resignation of the first president of Armenia.
"The political forces familiar to you claimed me to resign. Taking into account the current situation, the application of the constitutional powers of the President poses a serious threat to destabilize the country, I accept this demand and announce my resignation.
I refrain from making any comments or judgments, not to exacerbate the situation. I only consider it necessary to point out that raising the issue of Artsakh in the power crisis was just a pretext. The problem is deeper and more connected with the precepts of statehood, an alternative to war and peace. But time will show who did something for Artsakh, and who actually sells it.
Nothing extraordinary happened, just dignified peace and reconciliation party of Armenia failed. No need to fall into complexes peace party lost in the more developed societies than we, for example, in Israel. Both in Israel and Armenia it is a passing phenomenon, only a temporary setback. Anyway, sooner or later, the peace will win its way.
I urge you to show restraint and maintain peace in the country and carry out lawful and civilized elections of a new President. This is a testimony of maturity created with you and pledge of the state of our reputation.
I wish good luck to the new President for the good of our people.
I express my deep gratitude for the confidence and support towards me throughout the years.
I also thank all my allies, who unequivocally have always been with me.
If I decided to resign, believe me, it means that the alternative for our country was more dangerous.
If I've done something good, I do not expect any gratitude, I apologize for not done and for his mistakes. "
