Prime Minister wants to see Georgia as a member of European family

Georgia has to follow the path which is the best for the country, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said at a meeting with journalists on Tuesday.

"Of course, the probability of Georgia's refusal from integration into Europe and NATO is very low, and, in my opinion, it is insignificant. This is possible, but I do not think it can happen any time soon in the following decades," he said.

Ivanishvili said the Europeans are seriously concerned about the future of the EU. "EU and NATO can fall apart, but today they are the most stable entities, and accession to these organizations is very important for us. NATO is the most stable security system," he said.

The prime minister said that his dream is to see Georgia as a member of the European community 20 years from now. "However, a lot has to be done for this, and, above all, the economy has to be developed, the most essential is to change the implement of production," he said.

The parliamentary minority in Georgia initiated the bill "On immutability of Georgia's policy." This was told by vice-speaker Giorgi Baramidze at a briefing on January 30.

"On behalf of the National Movement and the parliamentary minority, I would like to introduce a bill "On immutability of Georgia's policy". The matter rests in immutability of the country's policy in strategic issues and the bill consists of three components. First component is ensuring stability of our policy in connection with accession to NATO and the EU, so that no government in Georgia can turn away from this path, " he said.
