Society
November 17 is chosen as International Students' Day.
On the 17th of November, 1939 students' resistance in the streets of Prague against Nazi occupation inspired the establishment of an anti-Nazi students' coalition. The date commemorates the anniversary of the execution of nine student leaders and over 1,200 students sending to concentration camps.
In 1941, November 17 was declared International Students Day by the International Students Council in London which became the starting point of the founding of the International Union of Students.
International students' day will be celebrated in Armenia as well. Some concerts, exhibitions are organized for today. Armenian Minister of Education Armen Ashotyan congratulated the students on their day and wished them to get much knowledge to find their place in this quickly developing life.
