“Euronews”: Protesters don`t believe in Egyptian military rulers.

Thousands of Egyptians returned to protest in central Cairo on Wednesday despite the country's military rulers promising a speedier handover of power.

Clashes between demonstrators and security services have left at least 37 people dead since Saturday. Many protesters are back in Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak. He quit in February and handed power to army chief Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.

Tantawi said yesterday that presidential elections would be held next June.

Egyptian activists have dismissed that offer. They want that poll to be held after parliamentary elections which start on Monday. They are also calling for the army to stand down immediately.

Protests against the military intensified after it unveiled draft principles for a new constitution that would have shielded it from the scrutiny of a future civilian government.

The clashes have left nearly 2,000 people injured, with field hospitals being set up to treat the wounded.
