Abortion by itself isn`t acceptable.

There is no need to adopt a new law in Armenia that prohibits abortion, since this process is regulated by the Law on Rehabilitative Healthcare and Rehabilitative Rights, oncologist-gynecologist Vahe Ter-Minasyan stated, during a press conference on Wednesday, adding there is no need to ban the physicians from informing the parents about the gender of their future child.     

In Ter-Minasyan’s words, pursuant to Armenia’s law, the abortion of up-to-12-week fetus is performed with the woman’s consent, whereas the abortion of up-to-22-week fetus can be carried out only in the case of medical and social considerations, and with the woman’s consent.    

According to Vahe Ter-Minasyan, the level of awareness must also be raised among the men and woman alike, as many do not comprehend the resultant danger from abortion.   

In his turn, Father Kyuregh Talyan of the Armenian Apostolic Church stated that people have begun to carry out abortion to justify killing and to live a worriless life. And to corroborate his words, the clergyman cited from a book, where several gynecologists say the fetus is a living organism from the moment of fertilization, and it senses and perceives its surroundings.
