Comments accepted on Kazbegi HPP construction project until March 4

The Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection has called for an expression of interest to discuss the final summary of the ecological expertise on the construction and exploitation of the Kazbegi HPP project.

On 6 February the report on environmental impact evaluation was submitted to the municipality of Kazbegi, the Ministry said on Tuesday.

Interested parties can make their comments until 4 March. After this date the ministry will take the decision on issuing permission for the construction of the HPP.

"Considering the fact that the community of the Kazbegi region shows a considerable interest in the construction of the HPP and also the fact that this issue concerns a wide range of state and public interests, the ministry feels it appropriate to involve various interested persons and NGOs into the process," the Ministry said.
