"All Armenian kindergartens and additional 12 primary schools out of Yerevan’s 161 primary schools will have heating by December 1", the head of Yerevan City Hall department of general education Gayane Soghomonyan said on Nov. 25, during a meeting with reporters in Yerevan City Hall.
She said that the greatest reform was making kindergartens free of charge. She mentioned that before the reform 25,000 children went to kindergarten, but now 29,000 children were already attending.
"The 2012 state budget already foresees corresponding financing. Next year, too, the capital’s kindergartens will be free of charge", said Gayane Soghomonyan. Touching upon the issue of ensuring quality food in kindergartens, Gayane Soghomonyan said food supply was always in the center of their attention and was controlled by corresponding structures.
"The territory renting issues for kindergartens is also in the centre of the City Hall’s attention. After rental dates expire, the territories will undergo reconstruction and will be used to solve the reception problem of children in the waiting list. By the recommendation of the Yerevan mayor, visits were also organised to the kindergartens, which aren’t still heated", she added.
Gayane Soghomonyan assures that the heating problem will be solved till December 1 of the current year.
