Topless Femen protesters freed after assault on Berlusconi
World
Three Femen activists have been released after launching a topless assault on the former Italian leader, Silvio Berlusconi when he arrived at a Milan school to vote in Italy's general election.
As Berlusconi came to cast his ballot at the Dante Alighieri school in Mila, he was attacked by three half-naked activists with “Basta Berlusconi” (“Enough with Berlusconi”) sprawled on their backs. The trio had posed as journalists to get access to the building and lingered in the crowd until the politician turned up for parliamentary poll. The naked assault was foiled by police who seized the female activists before they could lunge at Berlusconi.
Investigators in the “Ruby case” jested this incident could have hardly shaken Italy’s scandalous ex-prime minister, who had seen enough of this “bunga bunga.”
Berlusconi is bidding to become the country’s next finance minister. Italy is continuing to vote in the nationwide parliamentary elections. Polling stations will open at 7am local time. The first day’s turnout stood at over 54%. Vying for parliamentary majority and the right to appoint the next PM are Berlusconi’s Freedom People, Pier Luigi Bersani’s Democratic Party and Mario Monti’s centrists.
