Presentation of Armenian Virtual Scientific Library was held in National Academy of Sciences of Armenia on Tuesday. The Academy President Radik Martirosyan opened the event and stressed the importance of the establishment of the library, which would give an opportunity to the Armenian scientists to use many world scientific journals on-line.
Head of the State Committee of Science of Armenia Samvel Harutyunyan said that availability of world scientific literature was the major issue for the Armenian scientists. The Virtual Library will not only give an opportunity to get acquainted with the world scientific thought, but also to present their works to the world public.
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern also made a welcoming speech in the presentation. Stressing the importance of science and technology, the Ambassador said that cooperation with the Ministry and the Academy was going to develop.
The Library includes more than 3 million scientific articles and more than 8,000 journals of UN Research4Life. The project is implemented by U.S. Civil Research and Development Foundation, Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, State Committee of Science of Armenia, Armenian National Academy of Sciences and U.S. State Department.
