Religios leaders` joint statement.

On November 28, in Yerevan, a joint statement was signed by the religious leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
The statement in particular runs that the meeting is aimed at finding common ways to establish peace and solve conflicts in the region. They state that the peoples of the region are divided and everyone feels the consequences of the unsolved conflicts. The religious leaders expressed their support to the resolution of conflicts through peace and legal means and called on the political figures to give a new impetus to the settlement of the conflicts that will establish peace and stability in the region. The religious leaders said ready to play a serious role in such a dialogue. They called for promoting the processes of integration of the society, including the national minorities in the post-soviet territory for the freedom of religion and religious activities, providing them with the opportunity to develop their culture and preserve their language. They think the mass media do little to boost interreligious and international cooperation. They stated that the meetings of religious leaders stopped the military phase of conflicts and prevented them from becoming religious conflicts. The religious leaders underscored a peace settlement of the Karabakh issue based on international law mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group. They underlined that the process needs continuous efforts to observe the ceasefire and to build mutual trust. Sharing the worries of people regarding the preservation of historical monuments, they expressed their readiness to support this process.
