Pro-Assad hacktivists have hacked into Agence France-Presse’s Twitter account, flooding it with images that allegedly depict the real situation on the ground.
The AFP profile was compromised at around 4:45pm GMT and showed unauthorized images until being frozen later on Tuesday.
The Syrian Electronic Army has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it wanted the world to know what is really going on in Syria.
They accused the agency and other Western media of publishing “fabricated news” on the Syrian war.
During the hour of uncontrolled operation, hacktivists accused US President Obama of backing the use of child soldiers by rebels and murdering innocent people with the help of drones. One of the pictures allegedly shows a child beheading a government armed forces’ officer.
