The business forums between Yerevan and St. Petersburg aim to improve the business ties between the two cities. Head of the Yerevan City Hall's foreign relations department Davit Gevorgyan said at the "Searching for New Ways of Cooperation and the Fifth Anniversary of Information Center of St. Petersburg " forum, on November 30, that it is a regular business forum and gives an opportunity to discuss the cooperation between the two cities in the spheres of cultural, tourism, urban economies, exchange experience between the different business circles.
Vice chairman of the St. Petersburg Foreign Ties Committee Andrei Petruk said from year to year the trade turnover between the two countries increases by 6% and makes 14 million USD. "Thanks to the meeting the businessmen of the two cities will find new ways of cooperation," Petruk said.
He also noted that many Armenian businessmen are elaborating intensive activity in St. Petersburg.
Gevorgyan said here the businessmen will have an opportunity to intensify business contacts. "Food is being exported from Armenia to St. Petersburg, particularly fresh fruits and vegetables, some electric devices. And from there furniture and machine-building devices are being imported to Armenia," he noted.
The cooperation between Yerevan and St. Petersburg is being regulated by the action program signed for 2011-2014. This is the fifth forum organized within the framework of the program. Ten-member delegation arrived from St. Petersburg to participate in the event.
Gevorgyan said the reinforcement and development of cultural dialogue is also being highlighted. With this aim days of culture of St. Petersburg in Yerevan will be conducted in 2012.
