Elaboration of a new program on economic development was discussed in Armenian government.

A discussion was held in the RA government, chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. Representatives of the World Bank, National Assembly factions and government participated in the event.

"A new economic program should be worked out for Armenia with its main directions, priorities and actions. Armenia worked out a sustainable development program several years ago, which underwent essential changes as a result of the global crisis," Tigran Sargsyan said. The head of the government noted that our country is in a competitive stage today and we have a task how we should move forward and in which methodology.

"In the recent 20 years Armenia has been experiencing growth and for developing it we should make use of all the advantages and sources of our country, the current human resources and the potential of the economic growth. I think you can do it. I am optimistic about Armenia, despite the global incertitude," said Asad Alam, World Bank's Regional Director for the South Caucasus. He noted that a flexible policy should be elaborated in case of the current numerous uncertainties.

Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Asad Alam for participating in the discussion and presentation of the international experience and new ideas.
