Chemical castration against sex offenders is not very effective, according to Armenian sexologist Vrezh Shahramanyan.
As Mr. Shahramanyan told in the press conference held on Dec. 3, the method may cause increased aggressiveness along with sex drive reduction.
"Chemical castration may result in a number of health problems," the expert said calling for psychotherapy as a solution.
In her turn, another sexologist Karine Khodikyan noted that society should condemn such people by isolating them.
A resolution envisaging compulsory treatment or voluntary chemical castration for pedophiles was adopted at December 1 Armenian government sitting.
