Fraud during elections of RA National Assembly Speaker.
Political
During Tuesday’s elections for Armenia’s new National Assembly (NA) Speaker, opposition Heritage Party MP Anahit Bakhshyan accused the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MPs of committing fraud.
As per Bakhshyan, even though former NA Speaker, and RPA MP, Hovik Abrahamyan was not registered in the NA Sessions’ Hall, his name was checked and he participated in the elections.
Bakhshyan claimed that fraud was committed as others voted in place of Hovik Abrahamyan.
But the situation was resolved when Abrahamyan himself approached the voting stand and advised Anahit Bakhshyan to no longer count the MPs by their heads.
And in response to the journalists’ question as to whom he voted for, Abrahamyan said he voted for the current NA Deputy Speaker Samvel Nikoyan, since RPA had reached such decision.
To note, several days ago Anahit Bakhshyan announced that the actual number of MPs in the Sessions’ Hall is lot less than that of those who are participating in the elections, adding she counted the heads of those present.
