Along the lines of his visit to Brussels, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan on Monday met with European Union Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht.
The interlocutors discussed Armenia-EU trade and economic relations, specifically the Armenia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. In this context, Tigran Sargsyan presented to the Commissioner the ongoing reforms in Armenia, also noting that the country has completely carried out the activities that were previously agreed with the European Commission. Sargsyan also expressed a hope that, at the beginning of 2012, the Commission would reach a decision to commence talks for the aforesaid Agreement.
Earlier, Armenian PM also met with Fokion Fotiadis, European Commission Director General for Development and Cooperation Department. The parties examined the macro-financial assistance to Armenia.
