A pure gold replica of Leo Messi's left foot was unveiled today, Wednesday, at a famous Tokyo jeweller's, where it will be slapped with a ¥486.5 million price tag (around €4 million).
The 25-kilo, life-size piece made with exquisite detail from a cast of the player's foot was presented by the president of the Ginza Tanaka jeweller's chain, Masakazu Tanaka, and the player's older brother, Rodrigo Messi, who travelled to Tokyo to oversee the unveiling.
"It's impressive the way they can make an object so well, with an exceptional mould. You can see every line on Leo's foot," assured the eldest of the Argentinean's three brothers during the event.
Along with the 'Golden Foot', as the unique replica has been named, the 'Golden Foot Plate' was also presented. It consists of frame limited to 50 300 gram pieces of gold bearing Leo Messi's footprint and his signature, which will go on sale at a price of ¥8.75 million (around €72,000).
The Tokyo jeweller's chain, founded in 1892, will also sell a miniature 10 cm high version of the player's foot, made from 100 grams of gold mounted on a wooden plinth, valued at ¥3.89 million (around €32,000).
