Armenian obvious lie at the EPP Congress.

Wilfred Martens, leader of European Peoples’ Party (EPP), has invited Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan to attend the summit of leaders of European states and governments to be held on Thursday in France.

Martens made the invitation during his address at the congress of party’s first plenary session. Welcoming the President of Armenia on behalf of the large EPP's family, Wilfred  Martens handed the latter a badge of a member of the EPP.

“As of today you can consider yourself as part of the party’s large family,” Martens told Sargsyan and handed him the invitation to the European countries and Heads of Government Summit holding on Dec.8 in Marseilles.

In his speech Martens spoke about Armenia’s achievements and highlighted Sargsyan’s participation in the congress.

Serzh Sargsyan is currently on a visit to the French city of Marseilles to attend to the 20th congress of the EPP, attended also by leaders of parties affiliated with the EPP.

From former Soviet Union countries attending the summit will be the presidents of Georgia and Moldova.

The EPP is the largest pan-European party and includes 72 parties from 39 European parties. 

To note, the EPP President Wilfred  Martens is the honorable President of the European Movement in Armenia.

P.S. This event had an interesting highlight in Armenian press. It was noted by a few "responsible" media, that the EPP President in his speech defined the three parties of Armenia: RPA, Rule of Law and "Heritage" Parties, mentioning that these political parties would become constructive partners of EPP in the near future. Martens also added that the final decision would be made in 2012, February.

After 2 hours there appeared Naira Zohrabyan`s interview to Lragir.am, where she clearly stated that "during the presidential session of the EPP, Martens handed President Serzh Sargsyan a symbolic badge and said, "Let Armenia's entrance be welcomed in the family". The EPP President didn`t underline any party. Everyone got equal attitude".
