Kenyan President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta, who faces international charges of crimes against humanity, said in a text of his speech to the nation on Saturday that he and his team would cooperate with international institutions.
He also said in the text of his speech, in which he did not directly refer to the International Criminal Court which has charged him, that he expected the world community to respect Kenyan sovereignty and its democratic will.
"We recognise and accept our international obligations and we will continue to co-operate with all nations and international institutions - in line with those obligations," he said in a text of a speech that was sent to Reuters and embargoed until he began to speaking.
