President Serzh Sargsyan`s statement: "Armenia and Armenian people have friendly and warm feelings towards Lebanon".

"Armenia and Armenian people have friendly and warm feelings towards Lebanon", President Serzh Sargsyan said during a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman, which was followed by an official dinner on behalf of President and his wife Rita Sargsyan.

“Armenian people will never forget the support of Lebanon which sheltered violently expelled Armenians. It is not coincidence that the Armenian authorities always paid attention to expansion of relations with the Arab world. Lebanon is the first among these states,” he said.

"The Armenian nation is grateful to Lebanon for recognizing the Armenian Genocide in the parliamentary level", Sargsyan said.

President stressed that he had expressed gratitude to Leabanon’s leader for assisting the Armenian community with organization of annual events to honor Armenian Genocide victims on April 24.

Sargsyan said that Armenia highly assessed friendly attitude to the Armenian community of Lebanon, so that it can fully participate in the social, economic, social and political life.

“It allows the Armenian community to further strengthen links with their homeland serving as a bridge and connecting link between Armenia and Lebanon,” he added.
