Klaus: "Euro should belong to 8 countries."
World
The Euro should be kept by a maximum of eight Eurozone countries, according to the ex-president of the Czech Republic, professor Vaclav Klaus.
Currently the Euro is the official currency of 17 European Union countries.
"I am convinced that we are at an impasse, and therefore it is impossible to go forward. We have to go back to the last intersection and make other decisions," Klaus said during a speech in Washington.
In his opinion it is necessary to reduce the number of member states in the eurozone.
Vaclav Klaus completed his second presidential term on March 7. Now he is in the U.S. where he intends to give a series of lectures on the global economy.
Klaus is one of the world's leading experts in the field of finance.
