In Belarus, Deputy Interior Minister Yevgeni Poluden was arrested last week. It’s not reported on which agency is engaged in the case, as well as what charges are presented to the detained. The KGB and Interior Ministry declined to comment on this information. Yevgeni Poluden’s cell phone is not responding.
Colleagues of the police officer say he is charged with abuse of office, reports "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus."
"We are shocked. We’re trying to find out the reason for his detention. According to the available information, he’s accused of self-dealing. We do not know what kind of self-dealing is implied. I think he was detained on Friday night. Now the relatives of Yevgeni Poluden are impossible to get through to," reported the colleagues.
Poluden was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - chief of police of public safety - in summer 2009. Prior to that, he’d worked in Minsk police department. According to the newspaper Hartiya97, Poluden was present at opposition rallies and personally commanded to crackdown on them.
Recall that back in November, it was reported that law enforcement authorities in Belarus had arrested one of the most influential businessmen of the country, Viktor Shevtsov.
