Syrian Grand Mufti highly appreciated the role of Syrian Armenians in the economic and cultural life of the country.

Armenia's Consul General to the Arab Republic of Syria Karen Grigoryan on Dec. 10 had a meeting with Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Syria.
The parties discussed the friendly relations between Armenia and Arabic relations, as well as the cultural similarities between the two peoples.
The Grand Mufti highly appreciated the role of Syrian Armenians in the economic and cultural life of the country, noting that Armenians are devoted citizens of the country and enrich the religious-cultural diversity of Syria.
The Grand Mufti noted that Syria does not view the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue from the religious standpoint and considers it an issue of free expression of will of the people.
The interlocutors also discussed Issues related to the unveiling of the monument of "Gratitude of the Armenian nation to the Arab people" and the visit of the Grand Mufti to Armenia.
On the same day, Armenia's Consul General met with the Governor of Aleppo, Mwafak Ibrahim Khallouf.
The Governor wished success to Karen Grigoryan in his mission and stressed that the warm friendly relations and reciprocal trust between the two peoples were the best preconditions for the development of close cooperation between the two countries. Mwafak Ibrahim Khallouf emphasized the importance of deepening of economic relations and the use of the capacities of local Armenian businessmen for that purpose. He pledged his support for any initiative of the Armenian Consulate General.
