President of Narekatsi Art Union Nareg Hartunian has been given a chance to pay the taxes he is alleged to have evaded, Armenia’s State Revenue Committee has said.
In a statement released on Wednesday the Committee said that setting free Hartunyan, as well as two of his employees, the law enforcers have given them a chance to pay the taxes in discussion.
Narek Hartunian, the owner of the GH Storage Company, as well as Arthur Galstyan, the company’s chief accountant, and Ani Mnatsakanyan, deputy director, had been arrested on December 9.
The company is accused of evading more than 100 (approx. $280,000) million drams in taxes. They were all released on parole on Tuesday.
Following the arrest, Hartunian’s lawyer Lernik Hovhannisyan issued a statement, saying that the arrest was politically-motivated.
Hovhannisyan explained that Hartunyan, who owns 34% of shares of Yerevan Watch Factory, had refused an offer by Franck Muller Company to sell all his shares.
The investigation into the criminal case is still underway.
To note, Narek Hartunyan will hold a press conference on Thursday, in connection with this matter.
