The Freedom of Information Center presented today the results of the monitoring on the Freedom of Information in Armenia in 2011.
Within the framework of the monitoring 250 inquiries on behalf of 10 applicants were sent out to central government bodies, governor’s offices, municipalities, community centers and public organizations during May-June 2011, expert of the Freedom of Information Center Liana Doydoyan told a press conference today.
Lawyer of the Freedom of Information Center Gevorg Hayrapetyan said, in turn, that discriminative attitude was demonstrated, when providing information. The Freedom of Information Center received full answers to 19 out of 25 questions, while a student got only 5 answers out of 25.
Among the problems of the field the lawyers points to the lack of culture of transparent and open work. However, he describes the overall trends as generally positive.
