Location
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Ian Kelly (US), Jacques Faure (France), Igor Popov (Russia) and Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office, have started their visit to the region
The mediators visited Khankandi on March 19 and met with the leaders of the separatist regime.
At the meeting, separatist leader Bako Sahakyan said that Baku is continuing its destructive police and this poses a threat to the peace process.
Ian Kelly of the United States of America said that it is his first visit to Nagorno Karabakh. “I came to here to know your opinions how we can be useful to this process,” – said the co-chair.
Following the meeting, responding to the journalists’ questions, the co-chairs touched on the issue on Khojaly airport. Answering the question about the airport, Kelly said that they intend to contribute to the peace process.
Jacques Faure of France said that the process on the airport is being continued and it is too early to talk about the details: “But be sure that we are working on this and have concrete proposals. We are discussing these proposals with parties.”
Igor Popov of Russia noted that they will present annual report on the outcomes of the visit: “Some questions will be answered in the report.”
On March 20, the co-chairs will visit Yerevan and meet with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
The mediators are expected to visit Azerbaijan in early April.
