World Economic Forum. Armenia is not so hospitable country
Armenia
Armenians' attitude to foreign tourists is more welcoming compared to Iranians and less so compared to its western and northern neighbors, the World Economic Forum’s latest report suggests.
The document, entitled Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, comprises a survey conducted among the population of 140 world countries.
The question directed to respondents was “How welcome are foreign visitors in your country?”
The outcomes placed Iceland a most welcoming country (value: 6.8). The other states in the top three list are New Zealand (6.8) and Morocco (6.8).
Armenia, with 6.0 points, is in the 95th position, with Iran (52) ranking the 135th. Turkey (6.5) and Georgia (6.5) rank as the 53rd and 33rd countries, respectively.
The survey was conducted from late 2011 until late 2012.
Russia (5.0), which is on the 138th position, opens the top three list of the “unwelcome states”. The last two countries in the ranking are Bolivia (4.1) and Ukraine (4.1).
