Today at the press club “Mirror” representative of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Hovhannes Sahakyan and representative of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Artsvik Minasyan concluded the passing 2011 year and made foresights for coming 2012.
“2011 started with Armenian President’s active participation in the social-political life. Some orders were given and it let us hope that some positive changes would be seen soon. But unfortunately, it did not happen. Even official reports show, that the social-political policy does not give the wanted results,” said Artsvik Minasyan while concluding the passing year. Speaking about the reasons he underlined the world economical crisis and not adequate answer to it by Armenian Government.
Answering to Artsvik Minasyan’s announcement Hovhannes Sahakyan noted. “I can say that we tried to overcome crisis on 2011 jointly with the parliamentary opposition. Taxes package is the latest example of our joint work. We aim to make positive changes and this package passed in the Parliament unanimously”.
The speakers discussed changes of the elective codex and coming Parliamentary elections on 2012.
“At first sight it seemed that those changes will bring positive changes. But elections on 2012 can not be free and democratic. Poverty is one of the main reasons for it. And public disappointment is the second reason. People do not want to participate in the elections. ”
According to Hovhannes Sahakyan Armenia has moral crisis now more than it has social crisis.
“We need to create a atmosphere of trust in the country. And not only the authorities, but also the opposition must work on it. And I consider that it is not right to announce now that elective codex is not reliable. It is not right for the future as well. I repeat that elections on 2012 will be the best elections in Armenia. And both pre-election and after-election periods must be well worked out. The authorities get ready for it. ”
Artsvik Minasyan was unable to realize how the authorities were going to organize the best elections on 2012 with such high index of poverty in the country.
He would believe in it if the authorities acted instead of the speaking. “For example, if they put recording systems in every elective constituency or if they announced that everyone who violates the law will be punished. And it would be better if they started it just from now, just from every charity”.
According to the other speaker of the press conference H. Sahakyan every event organized by the RPA strictly follows the laws.
H. Sahakyan also added that it was a good position for the opposition: just to criticize the authorities. “But I repeat that in Armenia we mostly face psychological problems, not social-economical problems. We need to increase people’s belief and the opposition should assist us in this work.”
Artsvik Minasyan made a remark saying that maybe the current authorities are saint and the opposition criticized them in vain. “If now you tell that ARF was saint while it was leader, I will say that RPA is saint as well”, H. Sahakyan told.
Referring to the cooperation between opposition and authorities, both speakers announced that the authorities work effectively with the Parliamentary opposition.
“Parliamentary opposition works with the authorities. We have worked out some drafts together and succeed. Of course, there were also disagreements. And negotiations with the opposition out of Parliament were a new experience for Armenia. And though the process was interrupted without any logic, it should be continued on 2012 as well”, Sahakyan said.
Minasyan announced that negotiations between ANC and authorities had no connection with real problems of society and called them just “gossip”.
“I think that the ARF also wanted to participate in the “gossip” otherwise why would you react so firm and jealously to the phenomenon?”, Sahakyan concluded.
