Hurriyet Daily News - Turkish nationalist associations are planning a protest in Paris on December 22, the day the French National Assembly is going to vote on the Armenian Genocide criminalization bill.
According to Jean Eckian, an independent French-Armenian journalist, the organizers have issued a statement saying that the bill is not compatible with the right to freedom of speech.
"Defend France against pro Armenian vote-catching. Let the History to the historians," reads the statement.
If the passed by the National Assembly, the bill will be submitted to the Senate for approval.
Ankara had numerously announced that the adoption of the bill would have an irrevocable impact on the Turkish-French relations. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently said the move is against the Turkish state, the Turkish nation and the Turkish community of France.
In a letter addressed to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Erdogan said the it might negatively affect the Turkish-French political, economic and cultural relations.
The bill had earlier received the approval of the French National Assembly's Committee of Laws.
The National Assembly had passed a similar bill in October 2006. But it never received the Senate's approval to become a law. In May 2011, the French Senate voted down the proposal with a vote of 74 in favor and 196 against.
The Armenian community of France was earlier reported to be planning a protest outside the National Assembly on Thursday.
