Gagik Tsarukyan was awarded with medal on International Day of Solidarity.

Gagik Tsarukyan, President of the National Olypic Committee of Armenia, was awarded with a medal on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity on Tuesday.

Taking the award the latter urged everyone unite efforts and create a prosperous country.

"We are acting guided only with the principle of reconciliation, tolerance and consent," he said. For already the third year the NGO is granting awards to figures who displayed reconciliation during the year.

For the first time the reconciliation award was granted to Ara Gevorgyan for the activity in the sphere of culture.

Gevorgyan said throughout his concerts he has always propagated peace. "I am happy that events highlighting reconciliation take place. It is peculiar to strong people only," he said.

Medals on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity have been awarded in Armenia since 2007. 

The International Day of Solidarity was declared on December 22 in 2005.
