Greener future for Arctic
World
New climate models spell concern for the Arctic, as decades from now soaring temperatures are predicted for the region. The American Museum of Natural History’s models expect for the Arctic to turn greener, more woods and forest area could increase by up to 50 percent in the next couple of decades, Voice of Russia reported.
Still, a researcher from the American Museum of Natural History believes that the increase in greens in the area could have an impact on the global eco system. Trees would be able to live in conditions, far north of the tree line in Siberia. If the Arctic does in fact become a more densely greened surface, it could affect where birds settle for ground-nesting.
Drastic changes in how the terrain looks in the Arctic along with the sunlight it gets will create an increase in vegetation, should the present predictions come true. In depth details about their findings can be read in the journal of Natural Climate Change.
