EU stresses importance of confidence-building measures in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

EU calls on both parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to promote and to encourage a peaceful solution and to strengthen the confidence building measures, head of the EU office in Baku Roland Kobia said at the press conference on Wednesday.
"We saw a low path of negotiations on the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh", Kobia said.
"In European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) progress report - 2012 there are the recommendations for Azerbaijan and Armenia to активизировать efforts to reach a peaceful resolution of the conflict," he said.
"The EU has a special representative on this conflict and it will be very useful if he has an access to the occupied territories," he added.
He also said that the EU calls both parties to promote overall environment which will encourage and support peace activities. He also mentioned the importance of the confidence building measures, Trend reports.
