At least nine soldiers have been killed and 18 others wounded in an attack on a camp office of the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) troops in northwestern Pakistan, Presstv reports.
The assault occurred early Saturday morning after a bomber hit his explosive-packed car into a checkpoint at the camp office of FC troops in the country's northwest Bannu district in the troubled North Waziristan region.
Security personnel have now blocked all the roads to the attacked checkpoint on the outskirts of Bannu District.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Frontier Corps is a federally controlled Pakistani paramilitary force tasked with helping local law enforcement as well as border patrolling.
Units of the FC have recently been used in military operations against militants in the country's Balochistan province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
Earlier in mid-December, three Pakistani soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb attack in the northwestern tribal region.
Militants frequently launch attacks across northwestern Pakistan and the lawless tribal belt on the Afghan border.
