Nikolas Sarkozy’s father Paul Sarkozy made his comments on BFM TV in answer to Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement yesterday.
The Turkish PM accused France of massacres of Algerian people in 1945, saying it was a “genocide” and said "If the French President Mr Sarkozy doesn't know about this genocide, he should go and ask his father, Paul Sarkozy. His father served in the French Legion in Algeria in the 1940s.” Paul Sarkozy said he has never been toAlgeria and, in his turn, advised PM Erdogan to better get acquainted with the history.
"I have never been to Algeria. I've never been beyond Marseille and I was in the foreign legion for just four months. All these are described in my book, you just need to buy it and read it. You can find all the documents there. Those statements are ridiculous,” Sarkozy’s father said.
