Armenian parliamentary opposition Heritage Party’s greatest accomplishment in 2011 was its chairman’s 15-day hunger strike at capital Yerevan’s Liberty Square, Heritage MP Anahit Bakhshyan said during a press conference on Monday.
In her words, Heritage also bestowed faith—in their own strength—to all those classes of society whose problems Heritage had dealt with.
Bakhshyan also expressed confidence that in 2012, prior to the parliamentary elections, they will be able to present their achievements to the politic body .
In his turn, Heritage’s Parliamentary Faction leader Styopa Safaryan noted that in the coming year they will underscore the conduct of free and fair elections, and, together with the society, they will present an alternative to the incumbent authorities.
And as the current year’s shortcoming, Heritage Party MPs pointed to the Party’s 152 state budget proposals that were rejected.
And with respect to non-parliamentary opposition Armenian National Congress’ calls for change in power and starting an impeachment process, Styopa Safaryan said this leads to defeat, and Anahit Bakhshyan added that this is an attempt to “stay afloat.”
