The adoption of the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide showed that France is one of the important centers of European civilization, director of the Oriental Studies Institute of the RA National Academy of Sciences Ruben Safrastyan said, noting that the coming pre-electoral period in France also played its role.
"The circumstance that Turkey fails to prove its commitment to the European values is very important. It is also remarkable that the relations between Armenia and France have become closer," Safrastyan said.
Whether what the response of Turkey will be in case the bill is approved by the Senate, Safratsyan noted that nothing will change. "Turkey appeared in its own trap. Turkey will suffer more losses as French capital has considerable position in Turkey's market," Safrastyan said. According to him, Turkey is in economic dependence from France and it will be the first to suffer losses.
