Australian senator wants to get more information on Armenian Genocide issue.

On December 26, Speaker of the National Assembly of Karabakh Ashot Ghulyan received Walt Secord, member of the Legislative Council of the parliament of the Australian state of New South Wales.
Stating that he is member of the Australia-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Australian senator noted that he has arrived in Artsakh on a familiarization visit, press service of NKR National Assembly informed. “My visit to Yerevan and then Stepanakert within the staff of our friendship group is conditioned by 3 main reasons: first, to see Armenia, secondly, to get better acquainted with the issue of the Armenian Genocide committed in 1915 in the Ottoman Empire and then – to see and know Artsakh personally,” Walt Secord said, adding that their state was the first in Australia to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Welcoming the guest, the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed gratification on his visit. “Australia is among the countries, which has always displayed friendly attitude toward Armenia,” he said.
During the conversation with the senator’s request the speaker presented the developments of the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani conflict settlement process, the positions of the parties in that context, the expectations of the Armenians of Artsakh in regard to fair settlement of the issue.
Representative of Artsakh ARF Central Committee Davit Ishkhanyan was present at the meeting.
