Tigran Khzmalyan, a member of Sardarapat movement, says this year was marked by several important events: the collapse of the stagnant parties which had started since March 1, 2008 and deepened with the defeatist policy of the titular opposition, the emergence of youth resistance centers, the transition of the Diaspora from an observer to a participant of resolution of national issues, and weakening of foreign support to the regime.
Dwelling on the Heritage and ARFD proposal to adopt 100% proportional representation, Sardarapat members Garegin Chugaszyan and Harutyun Mesropyan noted that it is meaningless to dwell on certain technologies under the current system because the origination, the process and the result of the elections are authored by one single person. According to them, real changes and free elections are possible only through systemic changes.
Zhirayr Sefilyan, dwelling on revolutions in different countries, noted that each county has its peculiarities. According to him, revolution has already started in Armenia and “this revolution is happening in our hearts and souls”. Sefilyan says Armenia has no right to long-term unrest, so before leading people to street protests it is necessary to work out a clear plan. He noted that if every conscious citizen of Armenia assumes part of the work to be done, Armenia will witness a bloodless and peaceful revolution. Nevertheless, Zhirayr Sefilyan says they will not be the hostage of the peaceful revolution, and if the government resorts to provocations, an adequate response will be given.
